The MAN B&W two-stroke engines from MAN Diesel & Turbo have for many years been the primary main engine chosen in bulk carriers, tankers and container vessels of all capacities, including mammoth-sized carriers.
By nature, low speed engines lend themselves to direct coupling of the propeller, ie. without reduction gear. This contributes to the high efficiency, increased reliability and low maintenance cost of the propulsion plant.
