Liquid Fuels
Primarily designed for heavy (residual) fuel oils (HFO) - one of the most exacting fuels used in reciprocating engines - our engines can be readily adapted to a wide range of liquid fuels.
At one extreme they can burn crude oil taken directly from an oil well and conditioned on site. At the other extreme, they can run on unrefined plant oils or waste oils including waste cooking oils
To date we have sold engines for operation on renewable liquid fuels as varied as palm oil, rapeseed oil, waste cooking oils and fats rendered from animal carcasses.
Gaseous Fuels
On the gaseous fuel side, dual fuel gas engines can run on both natural and non-natural gases of various qualities.
If you have a specific fuel in mind, please do not hesitate to ask for a fuel specification or contact our experts. Our well equipped laboratory can check your fuel and inform you which MAN engines are best suited to burning it.
Crude Oil
At a very different point on the fuel quality spectrum, our four-stroke medium-speed engines are well proven in operation on crude oil taken directly from oil wells and conditioned on site. Our crude oil technology and experience date back to 1986, since when the company has sold over 65 crude oil engines of various sizes to all parts of the world.
Exploiting crude oil to feed the large consumers involved in oil and gas exploration and production is both an economical solution and saves the considerable CO2 emissions involved in the refining of distillate fuels and their transport from and to the oil field.
