14.03.2003 - In February 1999 MAN Turbo received an order from the City of Chalon for installation and commissioning of a 25 MW gas turbine. The FT8-30 PowerPac drives a generator and is equiped with a downstream waste heat recovery boiler. The district station is successful in operation since 2000.

The FT8 gas turbine is an aeroderivative turbine which incorporates the benefits of a jet engine (partnership with Pratt & Whitney Power Systems).
The cogeneration application comprises a FT8-30 gas turbine (PowerPac) equipped with a generator.
The exhaust gas of the gas turbine generates in the waste heat recovery boiler hot water for the district heating system.

The cogeneration plant is owned by the District City of Chalon. The electricity is sold to the utility grid of Electricité de France (French Electricity Distributor).
The hot water feeds the district heating system of the city of Chalon sur Saône.
